BDS - BACHELOR OF DENTISTRY PROGRAMME

The BDS - Bachelor of Dentistry is an undergraduate four years degree program, affiliated with the UHS - University of Health Sciences, designed to prepare students to become dentists. It provides students with a solid foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of dentistry containing subjects of basic sciences and clinical sciences. Graduates of the program will have the knowledge and skills required to diagnose and treat oral health issues, prevent dental disease, and promote overall oral health and hygiene. With the demand for dental care on the rise, a degree in dentistry can lead to a challenging and rewarding career in healthcare.

First Professional

Oral Biology & Tooth Morphology: It is the study of the structure, function, and development of the oral cavity and teeth. (Marks: 200)
Biochemistry: It is the study of the chemical reactions that occur in living organisms. (Marks: 100)
Islamiat and Pakistan Studies: University compulsory subjects. (Marks: 100)

Second Professional

Pathology: It is the study of the causes, effects, and treatment of diseases, and how they affect the body. (Marks: 200)
Pharmacology: It is the study of the effects of drugs on living organisms, including their actions, mechanisms, and side effects. (Marks: 200)
Science of Dental Materials: It is the study of the properties, selection, and use of materials used in dentistry. (Marks: 200)
Community & Preventive Dentistry: This department focuses on the promotion of oral health and the prevention of oral diseases in the population. (Marks: 200)

Final Professional

Operative Dentistry: This department focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of dental caries (cavities) and other diseases of the tooth structure. Pediatric Dentistry and Endodontics are subbranches of Operative Dentistry. (Marks: 200)
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: This department deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases, injuries, and defects of the oral cavity, jaws, and face. (Marks: 200)
